Energy Resilience Assessment of a Rooftop/Carpark Integrated Solar PV System in Malaysia
摘要
Energy resilience assessment is vital for identifying and addressing the risks and vulnerabilities of solar PV systems. This chapter provides an overview of resilience assessment of a 2.8 MW solar PV rooftop and solar PV carpark integrated systems located in the northwest coast of peninsular Malaysia. The resilience assessment methodology involves identifying threats, impacts, vulnerabilities, risks, and solutions. Natural, technological, and human-made threats were scored by likelihood. Impacts were examined for the power sector (generation, infrastructure, operation, workforce, finance) and end-users (households, communication, transport, government, medical). Vulnerabilities were also scored by severity. By pairing threats with vulnerabilities, a risk matrix was developed, and the top risks were identified. Finally, prioritized resilience solutions, both technical and procedural, were proposed. Extreme weather, utility outages, accidents, pests, and vandalism were the top potential threats identified in the PV plant under study. Spare parts/backup systems, inspection/maintenance, protection/design issues, and preparedness/awareness were notable vulnerabilities. Leading risks involved weather threats and power losses, exhausting backup resources, or exploiting existing vulnerabilities. Solutions focused on monitoring, physical protection, training personnel, and emergency plans. This resilience assessment provides a framework for solar operators to evaluate site-specific threats, vulnerabilities, and solutions. Tailored resilience plans are key to ensuring sustainable solar infrastructure amidst climate change.
