Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and Sustainable Development Goals: Focus on Energy and Power Sector
摘要
Disaster risk reduction and resilience building have been part of the development framework as well as climate change agreements. United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) focused on resilience building as well as resilient infrastructures and critical infrastructures in its recent review, including Sendai Framework. Energy sector is considered as one the important infrastructures and interdependency of energy sector with other related sectors is found to be critical. However, from the analysis of PDNA (post disaster need assessment), it is observed that the damages and losses of energy and power sector are not properly reflected. This is also important to understand the relation of energy sector losses to business or service disruptions. Therefore, this chapter argues on the resilience building of energy sector and incorporation of energy sector damage and losses in the assessment report and links to the future development and resilient pathways.
