Nowadays, drones are used in every field because of its unique features like efficient inspection, crop monitoring, saving lives in emergency situations, scientific explorations, fast shipping and delivery. Accordingly, the demand for drones is increasing day by day. One of the drawbacks of conventional drones is its capability to bear the charge for lengthy journeys. So, this paper investigates the self-charging of solar drones that could have a lot of benefits when compared with conventional drones. The prime discussion of this paper is about the applications, working, charging system, limitations, recent developments and benefits of drones. A drone can run for longer by using a precise blend of solar technology and storage. Solar energy is a renewable energy source. Using this energy in drones leads to spending less money on getting electricity through the grid to power the drones. Due to the lack of a link to a utility company, this enables the product to be considerably more scalable. Self-charging via solar drones is completely off-grid. The chargers may be installed anywhere drone fleets can access them for recharging, including isolated locations or even at sea, due to their “off-grid” capability. This paper develops a linear approach towards the development of drones using solar as a primary charging source.
