Ossifying Fibroma

Ossifying fibroma, named by Montgomery in 1927, is a well-circumscribed neoplastic lesion originating from periodontal membrane consisting of cellulous fibrous tissue and diverse mineralized tissue. According to the 2005 WHO Classification of Head and Neck Tumors, ossifying fibroma is divided into three types, i.e., cementa-ossifying fibroma, juvenile trabecular ossifying fibroma (JTOF), and juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (JPOF) [1–6]. In addition, peripheral ossifying fibroma refers to the ossifying fibroma that occurs in the soft tissues surrounding the jaw bone [2–5, 7–10].
