摘要

Chondroma is composed of mature hyaline cartilage tumor (mostly isolated, occasionally involving more than one bone or multiple parts of one bone), which often occurs in the limb bones, but rarely in the jaws, with different sites of onset and clinical features [1–4]. It usually has limited growth potential and is not locally aggressive. Chondroma may occur in the central part of bones (enchondroma) or on the periosteal surface (periosteal/juxtacortical chondroma), and occasionally in oral and maxillofacial soft tissues in the tongue and buccal (soft tissue chondroma) [5–8]. Subject with multiple enchondroma, along with skeletal deformities and hemangiomas (vascular disease) over the skin, it shall be considered as Maffucci syndrome [8, 9]. Enchondroma associated with Maffucci syndrome usually begins as benign, but it may turn cancerous. Likewise, Maffucci syndrome has increased risk of other cancers such as ovarian and liver cancer.
