Cemento-osseous Dysplasia
摘要
Cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) is a non-neoplastic lesion of the jaw. In accordance with the location, quantity and imaging characteristics of the disease, COD can be divided into three categories: Focal cemento-osseous dysplasia (FCOD), periapical cemento-osseous dysplasia (PCOD?) and florid cemento-osseous dysplasia (FLCOD) [1–4]. FCOD is single, it can occur in any part of the jaw, but mostly in the back of mandible; PCOD mainly involves mandibular anterior teeth; FLCOD is multifocal involvement, not limited to mandibular anterior teeth. Generally, COD patients have no obvious symptoms and occasionally have painless jaw swelling. When the focus area is accompanied by infection, symptoms of pus overflow, swelling and pain may occur [4]. For asymptomatic patients, regular review is sufficient, and treatment is not necessary. If infection and jaw inflammation occur, surgical debridement can be performed. For patients with severe deformity or dysfunction of the maxillofacial region, surgical resection of the lesion area and reconstruction can be considered.
