On July 12, 2005, a Chinese porcelain piece titled “The large blue-and-white jar with motifs of Guiguzi going down the mountain, Yuan dynasty (1271–1368)”, fetched a remarkable price of 14 million GBP at Christie’s auction house in London. After factoring in the commission, this amounted to approximately 230 million CNY. At the time, this set a record for the highest price achieved by a Chinese artwork in the international auction market. The stunning performance of the Chinese blue-and-white porcelain in the Yuan dynasty captivated the attention of a global audience.
