Poverty and Its Causes in a Prototypical Pastoral Area: The Case of Zhiduo County in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province
摘要
In this chapter, we discuss a field questionnaire conducted in the pastoral areas in Zhiduo County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, to shed light on the work and life of local herders’ households, including their income and expenditure, their participation in and comments on the project for the ecological conservation and improvement of Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve, the implementation of the pasture contract responsibility system, the public services they received, their opinion of their own living and current policies for pastoral areas, and their actual needs.
