摘要

High entropy alloys and van der Waals materials represent two mainstream research directions in condensed matter physics and materials science. The recent combination of these two domains has given rise to a novel class of materials known as high entropy van der Waals materials, amalgamating the advantages of both realms, such as corrosion resistance, exfoliability, and diverse degrees of freedom including composition, spin, charge, intercalation, and twisting. Much like the surprising discovery of superconductivity in high entropy alloys, superconductivity has also been observed in these 2D counterparts. The layered structures not only enhance their geometric tunability but also open avenues for exploring exotic superconducting pairing mechanisms in these highly confined and disordered planar systems. This chapter delves into the superconducting properties of this newly discovered material category, encompassing its historical background, design strategies, characterization, and forecasting future research directions.
