摘要

The brain volume decreases slowly with increasing age from about the age of 30 onwards. This process of brain volume reduction in general in most people of the society is gradual and almost proportional to the increase in age. To maintain overall health and support brain function, a healthy lifestyle is needed, which includes factors such as focus on balanced diet, regular exercise, an adequate amount of sleep, stress management, and engaging in mental activities. Additionally, staying socially connected and maintaining a positive mindset contribute to a healthier lifestyle. Controlling and treating the causes of cardiovascular diseases is also one of the ways to keep the brain healthy. Among the mentioned conditions, based on scientific and research evidence, it seems that having a healthy and nutritious diet has an important role for keeping the healthiness of brain structure and function and inhibit the onset of mild cognitive fault and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. Healthy nutrition can potentially play a very important role in the onset and course of these diseases through changes in biochemical and epigenetic factors and control of vascular risk factors such as blood pressure and serum sugar levels and lipid profile regulation. Therefore, the evidence of knowing a healthy diet is necessary to maintain and improve brain health.
