Probiotic Agents for Alzheimer and Dementia
摘要
Probiotics are a combination of live beneficial bacteria or yeasts that live naturally in the body. Beneficial bacteria act to fight pathogenic bacteria and restore balance to the body and help the body by strengthening the immune system and controlling inflammation. Beneficial bacteria play an important role in maintaining your health by supporting immune function and controlling inflammation. There are studies evaluating the relation between probiotic consumption with decrease in the risk of dementia and Alzheimer. The treatment with probiotics can have a therapeutic potential for improving defaults in the microbiota–gut–brain axis and cognitive performance in aging, and the mechanism is related with prevention of signaling pathways and inflammatory responses. The current chapter aimed to evaluate the effects of probiotic agents for Alzheimer and dementia. This chapter investigates the effects of probiotic supplementation in clinical and animal studies. We discuss mechanisms and type of probiotics for supplementation in dementia and Alzheimer. In sum, probiotics can have the positive effects on dementia, and we recommend to administrate the probiotics for the treatment of dementia and Alzheimer due to the relations between gut and the brain.
