摘要

The biodegradation of industrial pollutants using fungi is a fascinating and promising area of research. In this chapter, the potential of various fungal strains to degrade and detoxify industrial pollutants is explored, focusing on their ability to break down complex compounds commonly found in industrial waste. By harnessing the unique enzymatic capabilities of fungi, this chapter aims to identify eco-friendly and sustainable solutions for mitigating the environmental impact of industrial activities. The types of fungi capable of efficiently degrading industrial pollutants are discussed, along with the mechanism involved in the degradation process, and the performance of these fungi is assessed under different environmental conditions. Additionally, factors such as pH, temperature, moisture content, and nature of pollutants are covered in this chapter. The advantages, challenges, and prospects of using fungi to degrade industrial pollutants are also included. The outcomes of this chapter have the potential to offer practical and scalable solutions for industrial waste management. Understanding and harnessing the biodegradative capabilities of fungi can contribute to developing innovative and environmentally friendly strategies to address the challenges posed by industrial pollutants.
