Climate Change Adaptation for the Built Environment: Addressing Urban Flood
摘要
Addressing urban flooding in the context of climate change requires a multi-scale, integrated approach that translates conceptual frameworks of sustainability, resilience, and regeneration into actionable planning strategies. This chapter delves into specific measures applied at various scales—from national policies to building-level innovations—to mitigate flooding risks and adapt urban environments to climate extremes. A critical analysis is provided on the implementation across different scales: national/regional (macroscale), city (macroscale), neighborhood (mesoscale), and building (microscale). Furthermore are discussed the challenges persisting in achieving effective communication and integration across these scales, highlighting the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and context-specific planning. By strategically incorporating adaptive measures at multiple levels, urban planners can enhance the resilience of communities, ensuring safer and more sustainable environments.
