Interventions in Palliative Care

摘要

Palliative care focuses on providing support and improving the quality of life for individuals with serious or life-limiting illnesses and their families. The goal is to address physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Pain is one of the most dreaded symptoms of cancer. Cancer pain has traditionally been managed by WHO ladder. However, pain interventions now can be taken up at any step depending on risk/benefit ratio. Pain interventions are now been used for almost all cancer-related pain. Sympathetic ganglion blocks like stellate, celiac, splanchnic, hypogastric, and ganglion impar are performed frequently for cancer pain. This chapter highlights these pain-related interventions and their use in different cancer conditions.
