摘要

Composites are unique combinations of discrete materials to modulate their individual properties. A stoichiometric or optimized combination of materials in the form of composites usually tends to modify their thermodynamic, electrokinetic, photoelectric, and mechanical properties, thus making them viable for different applications. MXenes, the 2D-type layered structures have emerged as interesting non-conventional materials with exceptional properties such as high specific surface area, conductance, controlled layered structure, and tunable surface properties. Therefore, the fabrication of MXene into different types of composites not only elevates its catalytic/electrochemical efficiency but also enables it to deliver on the bottlenecks of conventional material catalysis. In this regard, this book chapter discusses the MXene-derived composites and their application in energy storage and catalysis processes. Insights are provided on the synthesis of MXene composites with different categories of materials and their overall impact on the catalytic activity in different energy storage and conversion reactions.
