Stirring in the EAF
摘要
Among the main limitations of the EAF, its poor stirring conditions is one of the most critical aspects because affects the decarburization rate, lower productivity, equilibrium conditions which decrease metallic yield, etc. There are several forces that promote the motion of liquid steel in a conventional EAF, however they are limited to small regions. Forced convection can be carried out with bottom gas injection or electromagnetic stirring. This chapter provides a detailed review of these phenomena and its effects on energy consumption.
