Introduction

This chapter has four sections. Section 1 discusses the steel production through the EAF, worldwide. Section 2 describes the technological progress of the EAF. Section 3 is a discussion on the challenges for the EAF. Section 4 is a summarized description of 15 methods to decrease energy consumption in the EAF that are described in detail in the book.
