摘要

An increasing number of ornamental plants are being cultivated using soilless culture, particularly to produce commercially important floriculture. Soilless farming, which includes cultivation systems such as hydroponics, aeroponics, and aquaponics systems, has several advantages over traditional soil crops, including faster development times, year-round output, and fewer diseases and pests. A soilless culture system is essential for increasing crop productivity and biomass in a shorter duration. It strives to eliminate greenhouse soil-related issues like soil-borne diseases, low soil fertility, and salinity. By encouraging innovative enterprises to engage in agriculture, the technique has the potential to enhance people’s lives and boost economic growth. As a result, soilless farming has gained popularity as an innovative way to manage land constraints while growing high-quality floriculture crops sustainably. This chapter aims to provide information about the recent developments in cultivating commercially important floricultural crops and the implications of soilless cultivation in floriculture. The comprehensive data is organized into the following three sections: (1) Introduction; (2) Soilless cultivation in major floriculture crops; (3) Conclusion with future perspectives.
