In China, the predecessor of educational technology discipline is audio-visual education discipline. In 1987, name of the discipline set forth in the Catalogue of Undergraduate Majors in Normal Universities issued by the National Education Commission was “audio-visual education.” In 1993, the Catalogue of Undergraduate Majors in Colleges and Universities issued by the National Education Commission changed the name of “audio-visual education” to “educational technology” (“Notice of The General Office of the Ministry of Education on Soliciting Opinions on The Revision of Catalogue of Undergraduate Majors of Higher Education Institutions (first revised draft),” 2011).
