Key Fields of China’s Politics
摘要
The development of a discipline includes its expansion and extension and the deepening of its important terms. The concrete embodiment of the discipline includes the expansion, change, and deepening of its research fields and topics. Since the reform and opening up began, Chinese political science has undergone a process of expansion and deepening, from its restoration and reconstruction to its development. In the 1980s, class analysis, political reform research, and government function transformation were emphasized. In the 1990s, civil society and political participation were emphasized. In the early twentieth century, “governance and good governance” were proposed. During this process, the key fields in Chinese political science research changed with the deepening of reform, the development of political society, the integration of disciplines with the West, and the improvement of academic consciousness. Professor Yu Keping believes that Chinese political science research has experienced changes from theoretical translation and introduction to local research, from ideology to politics, from normative research to empirical research, from qualitative analysis to quantitative analysis, from a single discipline to multiple disciplines, from a focus on the political system to a focus on political behavior, and from a focus on class rule to a focus on state governance (Please refer to Chap. 1 of this book.). These changes are also embodied in various research fields.
