Gender and Social Development
摘要
The early research on gender in Chinese Sociology has basically been on women’s issues. In 1995, the Fourth World Conference on Women was held in Beijing, and the concept of gender studies was introduced in China. In 1998, the Ministry of Education approved Women’s Studies to be included as a third-grade discipline in postgraduate programs. Subsequently, Peking University’s Department of Sociology established the first Women’s Studies master’s program. This signaled that Women’s Studies had officially entered the national curriculum. In 2016, the university was officially authorized to offer second-grade master’s degrees in Women’s Studies.
