Blaise Pascal
摘要
A mini biography of Blaise Pascal makes up the first part of this chapter. Pascal gives us his own understanding of what “heart” means. His idea of a wager when applied to belief in God constitutes the main feature of this chapter. When we look at God, because God is infinite but without parts, without extension and without limits, we know neither the existence nor the nature of God. This scepticism is also due to the immense difference between us and God. I attempt to explicate “Pascal’s wager” and examine the defects of this argument within the frame of a philosophy of religion.
