Surveying High-Performance Global Connectivity: Routing Technologies and Computation Challenges in LEO Satellite-Based Networks for IoT Solutions
摘要
The terrestrial network has geographical limitations in terms of reachability. Also, propagation speed in free space is considerably high as compared to fibre; therefore, the use of space segment is quite evident. LEO-based satellite network is providing fast and efficient global broadband Internet access. Due to huge advancements in satellite designs and satellite launch mechanisms private companies are setting up satellite constellations having thousands of satellites resulting in high-performance Internet access with worldwide coverage. However, it is complex to design a high-performance network system over fast-moving nodes. In this paper, existing LEO-based satellite network routing technologies as well as computation challenges are discussed which could be addressed by satellite networks. The paper focuses on the use cases of LEO satellite-based network solutions for IOT challenges. We have covered a wide number of use cases that shows the utility of fast network services offered by the satellite network.
