The study provides an in-depth analysis of the role of artificial intelligence in the early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and in monitoring the disease progression. Parkinson's disease ranks second after Alzheimer's in the neurological illness, impacting approximately 10 million individuals worldwide. As the disease progresses, the dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra region of the brain gradually degenerate, affecting the most important motor functions of the human body. Current biomarkers such as cerebrospinal fluid, blood biochemical analysis and neuroimaging are costly, intrusive and need regular testing at specialised medical facilities, leading to delayed diagnosis of the disease. The role of artificial intelligence in medical treatment, diagnostics and human development has been profound. The data analysis is tough to interpret, but an AI-powered system can do it quickly. This artificial intelligence capability has the potential to revolutionise diagnostic procedures and therapy, resulting in early diagnosis of various diseases, timely intervention and the saving of several lives. Several artificial intelligence systems that leverage computer science and accessible datasets assist in assessing symptoms early on, detecting illness and providing a quality of life to the patient. Artificial intelligence also provides non-invasive evaluation, which aids in risk assessment prior to clinical diagnosis and, as a result, reduces the cost burden.
