The Measurement of the Total Factor Productivity of China's Electronic Commerce Industry Based on Global Malmquist Index Method

摘要

This study uses the global Malmquist index method based on the SBM function to analyze the total factor productivity (TFP) of China's e-commerce industry. This study shows that the TFP of China's e-commerce industry is in an effective state as a whole; from the perspective of decomposition indicators, the change of e-commerce TFP is driven by the change of technology and efficiency; in terms of geographical location, the coordinated development of TFP of e-commerce industry in the eastern, middle, and western areas has reached the effective state, and TFP in the eastern areas is the most stable. From the perspective of the differences in the change factors of TFP in various regions, the eastern region is dominated by technological changes, and the main contributor of the middle and western regions is efficiency changes. This text is expected to provide some suggestions for the optimization, upgrading, and structural adjustment of the e-commerce industry.
