Research on Overcurrent Setting Protection of Distribution Network Based on Adaptive Principle

The rapid action of protection in the distribution network is very critical for fault removal. Especially with the access of new energy sources, the uncertainty of the flow direction increases. It is necessary to propose a protection cooperation mechanism that adapts to the development of the current power grid. This paper proposes a distribution network overcurrent setting protection model based on the adaptive principle. The basic principles of distribution network protection are analyzed, the setting process of distribution network adaptive protection is proposed, the path analysis framework of adaptive protection setting is constructed, and the optimization process that matches the setting value of the protection device is proposed. A mathematical model was established to optimize the total action time of main protection and backup protection. The method proposed in this article is analyzed and verified using a 33-node system, and the effectiveness of the method proposed in this article is demonstrated.
