Design of a D-Band Noise Receiver and ENR Measurement Uncertainty Analysis

摘要

This paper presents a D-band noise receiver that achieves high-precision measurement of Excess Noise Ratio (ENR) and provides a method for analyzing the uncertainty of the measurement results. The system combines the Y-factor method and the cold source method to address the challenge of obtaining standard noise sources in the terahertz band. A thorough evaluation of the measurement uncertainty is performed by analyzing the errors in each stage of the system. The typical noise figure value of the D-band noise receiver is 7 dB. With a noise source ENR of 10 dB and a magnitude reflection coefficient of 0.5 at the output port of the noise source, the measurement uncertainty is determined to be less than 0.8 dB. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the system in accurately measuring D-band noise with low measurement uncertainty. This research is significant for advancing noise measurement technology and improving noise control, providing strong support for research and applications in related fields.
