A Single Active Phase Hybrid Buck Converter with Reduced Voltage Stress and Wide Voltage Conversion Ratios for Integrated Terahertz Systems
摘要
The integrated DC-DC converter, as a pivotal power management solution, stands as a crucial technology in realizing integrated terahertz (THz) systems, especially in large arrays. This article presents a single active phase hybrid buck converter (SAHBC) with reduced voltage stress on switches and wide voltage conversion ratios for THz systems. The proposed topology achieves an identical voltage conversion ratio range to the conventional buck topology (CBC) due to the alternate switching of S4 and S5. Furthermore, the flying capacitor employed in the proposed topology reduces the maximum voltage stress on the switches. The proposed SAHBC is designed as a step-down converter for lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, converting battery voltage to 1.2 V. In this paper, using a 205 nH inductor and a 500 nF flying capacitor, the SAHBC achieves 92.13% peak efficiency.
