摘要

This chapter goes into detail about how silica polymer composites can be used in different biomedical fields. Silica polymer composites have gotten a lot of attention because they have a unique set of properties, such as being biocompatible, having pores that can be changed, and being easy to add functions to. This chapter starts by talking about how polymers, nanoparticles, and functional moieties are used in the design and synthesis processes used to make these composites. The chapter then talks about specific uses of silica polymer composites in biomedicine, such as drug delivery systems, scaffolds for tissue engineering, contrast agents for bioimaging, and biosensors. The pros and cons of each application are talked about, giving an idea of how these composites might be used in the future and where they could be improved. At the end of the chapter, we talk about new ideas and directions for the future, such as stimuli-responsive systems, 3D printing, and bio-inspired materials. Overall, this chapter is a thorough guide for researchers and scientists who want to use silica polymer composites to make biomedical applications better.
