摘要

A comprehensive discussion of failure analysis approaches utilized in the context of ceramic/fibrous filler-based polymer composites is presented in this chapter. Composites of this nature have attracted considerable attention in the field of engineering owing to their exceptional mechanical, thermal, and electrical characteristics. The chapter commences by providing a comprehensive examination of the many types and distinguishing features of frequently employed ceramic and fiber fillers. Additionally, this study investigates the many failure mechanisms observed in these composite materials, encompassing interfacial debonding, filler breaking, matrix cracking, and delamination. The present study aims to provide a comprehensive examination of the impact of filler properties, including aspect ratio, orientation, and volume percentage, on the failure behavior of composites. In this chapter, case studies and practical examples are provided to demonstrate how these methodologies can be applied to diagnose failure mechanisms and enhance composite performance. This discussion seeks to offer significant insights for academics and practitioners engaged in the design and development of durable polymer composites based on ceramic/fibrous fillers, by integrating existing information and approaches.
