摘要

The chapter looks at the new field of using bacterial cellulose (BC) with polymers to make advanced materials for different biomedical uses. Bacterial cellulose is getting a lot of attention as a promising biomaterial because of its unique properties, such as high purity, mechanical strength, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. This chapter talks about the importance and potential of adding BC to polymer composites to improve their mechanical properties, change their porosity and surface area, make them more biocompatible, help them release drugs in a controlled way, and give them antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. BC-polymer composites can be used to make scaffolds for tissue engineering, wound dressings, implants, and drug delivery systems because they are flexible and can be made to fit different needs. This chapter gives an overview of the basic ideas behind BC-polymer composites, how they are made, how they are characterised, and how they are used in medicine. It also talks about the challenges and future directions of the field, with a focus on how these composites can make a big difference in biomedical research and patient care.
