Fiber and Ceramic Fillers-Based Polymer Composites for Biomedical Engineering
摘要
Composites are essential materials with varying physical and chemical properties, used in various industries. Engineering performance of composites depends on the material, components, and interaction. Fiber-reinforced polymer is a composite material with superior mechanical and thermal properties, while biomedical composites include fiber-reinforced and particle-reinforced materials. Ceramic fillers, also known as fiber reinforcement or fiber additive, are solid particles made of ceramic materials that improve the mechanical, thermal, electrical, and other characteristics of composite materials. They are used in various sectors, including aerospace, automotive, electronics, and construction. Fiber reinforcement or fiber additive, are compounds that incorporate fibers into various goods to improve their qualities. They are commonly constructed of glass, carbon, agamid, or natural fibers such as cellulose and hemp. Ceramic fibers offer advantages such as strength, thermal stability, chemical resistance, electrical insulation, low thermal expansion, and abrasion resistance. However, ceramics are prone to cracking, processing difficulties, cost, limited design flexibility, and poor shock resistance. Ceramic fillers, fibers, and acrylics are prepared using various methods, including the sol–gel technique, solid-state reaction, hydrothermal synthesis, spray pyrolysis, electro-spinning, chemical vapor deposition, and spark plasma sintering. These methods are essential for creating ceramic products with controlled size, shape, and properties. Ceramic fillers, fibers, and acrylics are essential components in various industries, such as the juice industry, where they enhance packaging materials, equipment, and containers. They provide improved barrier properties, mechanical strength, and thermal stability, while fibers enhance filtration and reinforcement. Acrylics are used in coatings and sealants to protect packaging and maintain juice quality. In dentistry, ceramic fillers and fibers enhance dental restorative materials, while acrylics reinforce prosthetics and weakened tooth structures. Overall, composites play a crucial role in various industries, enhancing their properties, functionality, and longevity. Ceramic fillers and fibers are essential in various industries, such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, construction, and healthcare. They provide thermal insulators, dielectric materials, and coatings for corrosion resistance and high-temperature stability. In agriculture, they enhance structural integrity, durability, greenhouse construction, irrigation systems, and crop protection, contributing to modern agriculture's productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
