Integration Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into the Learning Process in Elementary School: A Systematic Literature Review

This systematic literature review explores the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in elementary school students. ESD is recognized as a critical tool for fostering environmentally conscious behavior and promoting a sustainable future. The review analyzes research papers indexed by Scopus since 2019–2023, identifying key themes, methodologies, and outcomes of ESD in elementary schools. This review aims to discover trends related to the integration of ESD into the learning process in Elementary Schools and how ESD is integrated into the learning process in elementary schools. The findings show that research in integrating ESD into the learning process in Elementary Schools is still very minimal. Then, various approaches, models, and learning media can be used to integrate ESD into the learning process in elementary schools. Through this review, it is hoped that it will become the forerunner of further research regarding ESD in elementary schools through various perspectives and objectives.
