Mapping of Coastal Topography Using Drones and Marking of High and Low Tides

Coastal regions are impacted by water, natural, and man-made factors, necessitating the use of drones to assess topographical changes and establish safety lines. Regular evaluations are needed to develop predictive models for ecosystem evolution. Flooding from rising sea levels during high tides leads to road closures and public inconvenience. This paper gives a detailed review on assessing topographical modifications in seashore and sand dunes using drones to mark the safety line. UAV technology for aerial photogrammetric mapping is popular due to its cost-effectiveness and autonomous capabilities. It aids in regression planning, spatial analysis, modeling, and coastal characterization. Low-altitude aerial images are captured and assessed using GPS-generated ground control points (GCPs) and check points (CPs) for accuracy. GCPs also enable the creation of 3D models and other photogrammetric outputs.
