Investigation of Angular Distortion During MIG Welding of Stainless Steel 202 Plates

摘要

The gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is a high deposition rate fusion welding process. GMAW can be a semi-automatic or fully automatic arc welding technique for which we use continuously feed electrode coated with flux. The basic metal used in the present task is austenitic stainless-steel of grade 202 (SS202). The SS202 material is widely used in industries for their diversification application such as ship building industries, chemical industries, power plants, etc. This material will provide a good corrosion resistive capability, toughness, and strength at a comparatively low price as compared to their other stainless-steel grades such as 300 and 400 grade series. Our present work investigates the angular distortion for the plates and observing the various impact on the angular distortion by changing the input variables such as speed of welding, voltage, and wire feed rate. Angular distortion is a welding defect which occurs due to the uneven cooling of weld bead. Our goal is made to find out the relationship between input parameters to angular distortion through a central composite face centre design model (CCFD) whose satisfactoriness is tested by using ANOVA technique analysis to write a mathematical quadratic equation to reach out most favourable results.
