摘要

The important factor that leads to implant failure is insufficient Osseo integration. Surface energy and contact angle determine the rate and quality of Osseo integration of bio and dental implants. Various surface modification methods have been adopted to improve the surface of the implants and improve the Osseo integration. Of these we have considered surface modification by EDM. The surface roughness properties of the machined surfaces of EDM have been analysed and correlated with the surface energy and contact angle. 316L is chosen as the material. It is concluded that it is possible to design implants of specific contact angle and surface energy by selecting appropriate EDM machining variables by machining medical implants to promote Osseo integration.
