Fabrication of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) Using Copper (I) Iodide: A Sustainable Approach to Solar Energy Conversion

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have emerged as a promising technology for converting solar energy into electrical energy due to their cost-effectiveness and environmentally friendly nature. This paper presents a simple fabrication process for DSSCs utilizing copper (I) iodide (CuI) as a key component. The DSSC was fabricated with four different sizes, producing current ranging from 27.8 to 1.1 µV. The intervention involves the use of eco-friendly copper (I) iodide or cuprous iodide (CuI), a p-type semiconductor material, along with the incorporation of an organic ligand called Tetramethylethylenediamine (Tmed) in the preparation of solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The layer of CuI/Tmed thin film is deposited on the glass substrate, with sizes ranging from 0.5 cm to free size, affecting the output voltage.
