IoT Sensing Technology

摘要

Using sensing technology to obtain physical and environmental data is the basic function of the bridge management system. Therefore, in the process of bridge operation and maintenance, data acquisition is particularly important. However, the conventional sensing technologies are independent of each other, and cannot work together to obtain the health status of the bridge groups from a comprehensive time and space perspective. In addition, bridge maintenance and management using the conventional technologies is expensive. Aiming for intelligent civil engineering upgrade, Internet of Things (IoT) sensing has become a research focus in the academic circle in recent years as it can surpass the limits of the conventional sensing technology. This chapter introduces the development and application of IoT sensing technology in bridge maintenance and management from four aspects: the conventional structural sensing technology, the intelligent IoT technology, the IoT cloud management platform and the application of IoT technology in bridge maintenance and management.
