Investigating Role of BiVO4 Nanoparticles in Degradation of Textile Dye in Effluent Water

Bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) has gained considerable attention as a photocatalyst due to its reduced band gap energy and its ability to efficiently break down both organic and inorganic pollutants. In this investigation, BiVO4 nanoparticles were synthesized for the degrading of methylene blue. We conducted a comprehensive characterization of the catalysts using SEM, XRD, and FT-IR techniques to assess their various properties and effectiveness. XRD analysis unveiled the presence of the tetragonal phase in the synthesized BiVO4. Under UV light and at a neutral pH, the degradation rate reached 58.3% within a span of 90 min. Furthermore, it is worth noting that BiVO4 exhibited remarkable durability, as it maintained its catalytic activity even after being used five times. This quality renders BiVO4 a dependable nano-catalyst with both economic and environmental advantages.
