Smart Anesthesia Level Monitor During Surgery in the Intensive Care Unit

摘要

Major surgeries are performed to remove or reconstruct the infected part in the human body that leads to severe pain. In order to arrest this pain, Anesthesia is given to the region where operation is to be performed. At the time of surgery, patient will realise the pain when the level of Anesthesia reduces drastically. Hence there is a possibility of the patients to glide from their position. This may disturb the doctor as well as the patient while performing the surgery. Manual measurement is one of the methods to measure the anesthesia level of the patient which consumes more time. The other method is to sense the Anesthesia level in a particular part of the body and inject the medicine automatically to the patient according to the sensed value. If the system fails internally or due to external sources, the patient may suffer from pain, leading to several side effects. The major constraint that avoids the hospitals from utilising this device is its cost and size. The above constraint can be removed by placing the sensors on the surface of the skin that does not provide any pain or side effects. The device can also utilise multiple sensors for continuously monitoring the Anesthesia level and the severity around the injured parts of the body. The device is very compact and low cost compared to the existing system.
