Terahertz Biosensing Detections Based on Metasurfaces

Terahertz (THz) biosensing have become the advanced bioanalysis technology with advantages of low-cost, non-invasive and label-free. Here, some progresses of terahertz biosensing detections based on metasurfaces are discussed. Aiming at different biological analytes and diverse sensing requirements, metasurface biosensors were proposed to significantly enhance the light-matter interactions and confine the localization of electromagnetic energy through designed metal-atoms, and integrated various materials. The characteristics of ultra-sensitive, frequency-agile and calibration-free make these biosensors beneficial for clinical diagnosis and inspire more advanced applications in THz domain.
