Revolutionizing Urban Mobility: A Comprehensive Exploration of IoT-Based Smart Parking Systems

In this study, we present a novel parking system leveraging Internet of Things (IoT), a transformative technology that is gaining widespread prominence and evolving toward automated and well-established applications. The contemporary surge in fossil fuel prices and associated issues such as traffic congestion and parking difficulties have prompted the development of innovative solutions. Traditional parking methods often result in time and fuel wastage as individuals search for available parking spaces. To address these challenges, we have designed a smart parking system. Our system relies on a website to facilitate communication between the parking site and a controller, utilizing a Wi-Fi module for internet connectivity. This technological framework not only overcomes the limitations of conventional parking systems but also provides adaptability during situations like the ongoing pandemic. The website integration allows users to make direct payments online, enhancing convenience and safety. The implementation of this system involves the use of NodeMCU with ESP 12F Wi-Fi module, employing C programming through the Arduino IDE compiler. This combination ensures efficient communication and control within the smart parking infrastructure.
