Experimental Investigation of Dynamic Properties of Sepak Takraw Balls

The purposeful heading of a sepak takraw ball as the game's primary movement, as intensively practiced by sepak takraw players, can result in head injuries such as concussions. The head injury prediction can be practically measured, yet the mechanical properties of the sepak takraw ball are not well studied. The primary aim of this study is to investigate the stiffness and damping coefficient of two types of sepak takraw balls, GE511 and MT908. Each ball has been subjected to drop tests from three distinct heights, precisely 2.5, 7.0, and 11.5 m. It was found that MT908 has a greater stiffness and damping coefficient than GE511 with proposed valvalues stiffness and damping coefficient for GE511 arbeing6673.23 N/m and 18.492, and for MT908, 30,672.2 N/m and 20.249 Ns/m, respectively. These discoveries are particularly relevant in determining head injuries as well as the creation of head protectors.
