Influence of Injection Molding Manufacturing Process on Sports Equipment Durability
摘要
This review explores the substantial role that injection molding plays in the sports equipment industry. The application of injection molding, a manufacturing method characterized by the introduction of molten materials into a mold to produce intricate shapes, is of paramount importance in the production process of various athletic equipment, encompassing items such as protective gear and gym apparatus. The durability and safety of athletic equipment are heavily influenced by various aspects, including the composition of materials, mold design, and specific parameters utilized during the injection molding process. These considerations play a significant role in determining the longevity of these goods. This study highlights the significance of multiple characteristics, such as injection speed, pressure, temperature, and cooling time, in ascertaining the quality and longevity of the product. Recent research has examined many approaches to enhance process optimization, including the integration of conformal cooling channels and the exploitation of innovative materials, in order to improve durability. However, there are still knowledge gaps that need to be addressed, particularly in relation to knowing the impact of different manufacturing procedures on product durability and the use of recycled materials. This study underscores the need for additional research in these areas and emphasizes the promise of sustainable approaches in the field of injection molding. The case studies of injection molding demonstrate its capacity to effectively address diverse production requirements, as evidenced by its application in the fabrication of face shields among the COVID-19 pandemic and its utilization in recycling polymer waste.
