Historical Inevitability of the Rebirth of Historical and Cultural Villages in China

Although there are various expressive forms for the concept of historical and cultural villages, three key words are generally available, i.e., “history”, “culture” and “village”, which usually refer to the traditional rural villages with remarkable historical development legacies and traditional culture constructs. This chapter hereby explains the concept of “historical and cultural villages”. On the basis of literature research, purpose and significance of current research and practice are described herein.
