Grid-Integrated Solar-Powered DC Fast Charging Station with 50 kW Fast Charger

摘要

The need for fast chargers is the major concern of Indian Electric vehicle (EV) consumers because of the reliability and less charging time. This work presents the design and control of a grid-tied solar-powered DC fast charging station. 50 kW charger is connected to the DC bus to fast charge the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery. Solar PV is connected to a DC bus with a DC-DC converter and the AC grid parameters are rectified with a 3-phase rectifier to supply charging station load. The droop control technique is implemented for solar PV to charge the EV battery. The constant current constant voltage (CCCV) technique is implemented to control the charging and discharging of the EV battery. Results show the load is supplied from the grid in the absence of solar PV while maintaining DC bus stability. The design and control of this system are validated through MATLAB/Simulink environment at variable solar irradiation.
