Moving Beyond Blockchain: Hashgraph for a Sustainable Future

The clean energy sector is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to a more sustainable energy system. Clean energy technologies and decentralized systems have gained significant attention in recent years due to their potential to address the challenges of climate change and sustainability. Hashgraph, a novel distributed ledger technology, is emerging as a potential game-changer in this sector, offering new opportunities for decentralized energy management, peer-to-peer energy trading, and the integration of renewable energy sources. This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of Hashgraph technology, its underlying principles, consensus algorithm and proposes a framework for its potential application in the clean energy sector. Moreover, the paper discusses its benefits over traditional blockchain technology in various dimensions like transaction speed, scalability, fairness, etc. The paper also highlights some key challenges and limitations that need to be addressed to unleash Hashgraph’s full potential while providing directions for future research.
