Sanxingdui and Ancient Chinese Civilization: In Conversation with Zhang Changping

Genyou Wu: Today is the Dragon Boat Festival, and at this time, we are hosting an academic event as a special commemoration of Qu Yuan. When organizing an event, staff member Elliot O’Donnell and my students reminded me that today is the Dragon Boat Festival. On the Dragon Boat Festival, we not only need to gather with our families for meals, but also seek spiritual nourishment, so I did not change this date. This was a consideration when I chose this day for the interview. Today, we are very honored to have Professor Zhang Changping from the History College. He is a professor in the field of archaeology with a great deal of research on Sanxingdui and ancient bronze culture. When General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the Hubei Provincial Museum, Professor Zhang was the one who explained things to him. We are very grateful to Professor Zhang for taking the time to share his valuable research with us.
