Design and Analysis of an Agricultural Drone

Quadcopter is a widely used UAV with many applications in today’s world. The concerned application of focus here is the use in agriculture. The paper focuses on the analysis of a quadcopter drone using ANSYS 2021. The main aim of the paper is the Design and Analysis of an Agricultural Drone. It involves the systematic analysis of CAD designed model and simulation and validation of the drone using ANSYS 19.2. The paper involves calculation of the total payload, the total component weight, total thrust generated, current drain on the battery, battery endurance, motor and propeller calculation and the thrust-to-weight ratio of the design. Static analysis, Modal analysis and CFD analysis were performed on the drone. The paper involves determination and analysis of parameters like total deformation, von Mises stress, elastic strain, drone flow velocity and turbulent kinetic energy. Static analysis is conducted to calculate the required arm length for the drone and whether the drone is stable under static loading conditions. Modal analysis is used to determine the natural frequency of the drone. CFD analysis is used to determine the ideal rpm and effect of turbulence on the propeller. These analyses are used in the paper to determine the validation of the design and helps to improve the design of the drone.
