Natural Frequencies of Simply Supported Circular Cylindrical Shell: A Parametric Study
摘要
Cylindrical shells, such as tanks, pipes, and pressure vessels, exhibit dynamic characteristics that are influenced by material properties, thickness, diameter, and loading conditions. One important factors affecting these characteristics is natural frequency. Natural frequency depends on material properties, thickness, diameter, and loading conditions. An exact solution is used to determine the natural frequencies for simply supported cylindrical shells at both ends. A parametric study is conducted on steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and nickel shells varying the values of material properties, geometric properties, longitudinal, and circumferential half-wave number. A MATLAB code is developed to extract and validate the natural frequencies, which are essential in the design of cylindrical shells.
